Coven is Much More About Woman Power // It has almost an entire cast of women, which is kind of unheard of for television. Even better, their storylines are much more about their relationships with each other rather than men. Asylum did have a great lineup of female actresses, but their story lines were pretty well intertwined with men.
It Features Some Pretty Awesome Music // With Misty Day’s character we get to listen to some awesome music like Fleetwood Mac. Asylum’s most memorable featured music is that very weird ‘Name Game’ song with Jessica Lange which would be awesome if the whole story line of the episode wasn’t so confusing and weird.
Emma Roberts’ Character Gives Us Comedy Gems // We can go on all day about how annoying Madison can be because she is the mean girl, but you have to admit since her character doesn’t care what others think about her she ends up having some of the funniest lines. I can’t really point out if there was a comic relief character in Asylum…it was just a really dark season with a Nazi and the devil.
We Get to See Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates Do Some Serious Acting // Jessica Lange has definitely been the star since season one, but now the cast has added some heavy hitters in the acting game. Kathy Bates has really brought it this season by taking on a very complex and racist character, and somehow has made her monster of a character somewhat likable.
Voodoo Beats Aliens. It’s Just That Simple. // If you’re anything like me then you weren’t feeling the alien storyline at all last season. It was confusing, sort of just thrown in, and other than the fact that Evan Peter’s twisted love triangle (not that this year’s love triangle isn’t any less twisted) it was just not that interesting. The voodoo and witch magic is much easier to follow, and the more rules that come with the witch world make it even more fascinating. So Lydia readers, do you think Coven is the best season of AHS yet?
