Let’s talk about anti-aging products for a minute. I don’t know a lot about them, so I am not going to pretend that I do. However, I do know that chemicals and toxins make our bodies sick, and beauty products are loaded with them. That being said, I just have this hunch that maybe chemical-laden beauty products aren’t going to allow me to age gracefully.
I am all about natural skin care products. I have been using coconut oil as a moisturizer for some time now, I try to avoid shampoos and hair products that have long lists of ingredients, and I don’t like to wear foundation. In fact, I hate foundation. I always have. I hate the process of trying to find one that matches your skin perfectly, and I hate anything that feels heavy on my face. I’d rather just have perfect skin that doesn’t need foundation. Who wouldn’t? Unfortunately, that is a long process that involves a lot of studying and a lot of eating right. But, I say it’s worth it.
Enter Argan Oil. I read a little about it from bloggers who are also into natural beauty products, and I began to research it. It is a vegetable oil, completely natural and completely safe (you can eat it!), and it is chock full of vitamin E, which is awesome for your skin, and it is also anti-inflammatory (goodbye, acne). There are lots of different Argan Oils out there, and from what I can tell, everyone loves Josie Maran and Acure Argan oil. To start with, I bought a 4 oz. bottle of Acure Argan Oil for under $15 to try (Josie Maran’s is more expensive, but I do want to try it in the future).
The thing about Acure’s brand is that I don’t think it is 100% argan oil. I have read varying reports on this, but that is what I have surmized. However, it is all natural and competely organic. I say that because I have not tried 100% argan oil, so I want to be clear that this is more of a product review, than an argan oil review.
(UPDATE: Acure themselves have assured us via Twitter that their Argan Oil is USDA certified pure! So, yes, this product is 100% Argan Oil.)
I have been using Acure Argan Oil for about a month and a half now, and I love it so far! I use three drops at night after I have washed my face, and three drops in the morning before I put on my makeup. For starters, I don’t wear foundation anymore (just a little under-eye concealer and a tiny bit of powder on my T-zone), and my skin definitely has more of a “glow” to it, and it is less oily. It has definitely helped with balancing the natural oils on my face. I can’t speak for the anti-aging properties yet, but I do feel confident that I am nourishing my skin, and that it is benefiting from fewer chemicals. I don’t see my 80-year-old self regretting using this product.
I would definitely recommend this product, as well as doing a little research into 100% Argan Oil. The fewer chemicals we are all using on our bodies, the better off we will be. Am I right?
