By this time of the year, we’re always craving summer in a big way. A picnic in the park, a road trip or a day at the beach are at the top of our wish lists, as is a new bag to tote with us to all of the above. Rather than shell out cash for another trendy tote that will just get full of sand and suntan lotion, though, we’ve decided to make one ourselves!
– A plain tote bag in white or beige (you can use an old one, or grab an inexpensive one at your local craft store)
– A roll of painter’s tape
– Various colors of fabric paint
– A foam paint brush
– A pair of scissors
Apply painter’s tape in your preffered geometric pattern, being sure to secure tape completely to avoid paint bleeding.
Once tape is applied, choose your first fabric paint color directly onto the bag, or on a spare piece of paper, and dip one corner of your foam brush into the paint.
Continue painting alternating colors onto your bag until every white space is filled in completely.
Let dry for a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. Then you’re ready to rock the beach!
