Things are getting dramatic on Nashville, y’all. Deacon has a bad arm and Scarlett is still watching over his every move. Rayna and Juliette want nothing to do with the new people at Edgehill. Will is still hiding the fact that he is gay. And everyone is super emotional. You know, the usual.
The men of Nashville were unreasonably moody this week. Gunnar sat around feeling sorry for himself, Avery showed his sensitive side, and Deacon and Teddy were their typical, annoying selves. Okay, maybe Deacon has a few reasons to be annoying, but Teddy has no excuse.
First things first, Deacon’s emotions completely overshadowed everyone else’s. He played his guitar despite the pain in his arm, angrily flipped over a chair at an AA meeting, and apologized to Teddy about the whole “being Maddie’s biological father” thing. After a little persuasion from Coleman (he’s baaackkkk!!), he finally had the courage to open up about his father at one of his meetings. He cried, I cried, we all cried. At least someone in Nashville was honest with their emotions.
Gunnar, on the other hand, was far from honest this week. When he wasn’t busy attending his nonstop pity party, he was saying really weird things to Scarlett about her outfit or her performance, which only shows that he is definitely not over her. After attending Edgehill’s Stockholders Showcase (more on that in a bit) with Scarlett, her useless friend, Zoe, and Will, he asks Zoe to leave with him. Stupid Gunnar.
In Teddy’s world, he officially finalized his divorce from Rayna. This only gives him more time to visit Peggy and give her money for their baby, whom Peggy wants to name “Theodore.” Awkward. Later, Teddy meets with Peggy again and shares that he wants to be a good father to their unborn child. They share a “moment,” and everyone continues to be bored by their storyline.
On the other side of that divorce, Rayna seemed to be doing just fine. Liam came back and agreed to help her finish the album that they made together. After an afternoon of “catching up,” the two attended the Stockholders Showcase where the new guy in charge, Jeff, assumed that Rayna would be performing. Little did he know that she can no longer sing after her accident, so she instead asked Scarlett to perform in her place. Jeff was obviously angry that Rayna went behind his back, but Rayna got some good press for Highway 65 out of it, so who cares what he thinks.
Unlike Rayna and her obnoxious new label mate, Layla Grant, Juliette decides to skip the showcase in favor of a private event for Charles Wentworth and his wife (Juliette’s “biggest fan”), Olivia. When Juliette lets Charles play guitar for her during the performance, Avery throws a hissy fit and Juliette fires him on the spot. All of this drama set the stage for the real drama, a scandalous hook-up between Juliette and the very married, Charles. Who knows how this will end, but it can’t be too good.
As for the music, nothing exciting happened. Will performed one of Gunnar’s songs, which Gunnar didn’t seem too thrilled about (is he ever thrilled about anything?!) and Scarlett and Juliette both performed at their respective parties. I personally was hoping for a performance from Rayna’s daughters, but Maddie is probably off being too angsty to sing anything anyway.
Now that we’ve survived another week of drama in Nashville, what did you think? Will Zoe and Gunnar hook up? What will Jeff do now that he is totally pissed at Rayna? Will “Juliette’s number one fan” find out that her husband cheated on her with her idol? Will Avery ever stop being so pissy and sensitive? And can Scarlett share hair tips with me?! Too much good hair and drama.
