We are possibly back to our ‘new case per episode’ schedule now which is bittersweet. How will the public deal with Fitz’s lie about having an affair with Jeannine? We will never know because he and Olivia has to deal with Mary Lawrence, the mother of Chris who was murdered by the FBI without given much reason, and she has a bomb.
At the beginning of the episode Olivia is creepily watching Jake sleep in her bed, Huck is taking the day off without really talking to Olivia, and Mellie and Fitz are being told by Cyrus that they have to pretend to be happy for the public. We finally get to see baby Teddy who I’m sure you have forgotten that Mellie had, but that’s not your fault. I always forget that Fitz and Mellie have three kids together because they are never around. I can’t wait for them to get involved somehow in the future.
Olivia follows Mary into the capitol where she takes hostages to get information on why her son was killed, and this is where things get murky. Chris was actually innocent, but no one could know that because he was undercover as well as 57 other agents who are currently working with Al Qaeda. They will be killed if they find out that Chris wasn’t a martyr after all, but a spy. Once Fitz tells Olivia this over the phone and how Mary could never know that her son is a hero, you can tell Olivia is having a huge inner struggle. I personally felt a little heartbroken watching the situation, but Olivia did the right thing in telling Mary that her son was a terrorist. This sadly results in Mary pushing Olivia out of the room and blowing herself up.
Also Jake is back and later awake! When Olivia can’t get to Fitz during the hostage situation she uses Jake to get to him. Jake and Fitz have their first standoff over the phone and it’s clear that they will both fight for her affection. I’m honestly over love triangles, but if I had to pick one of these guys for Olivia it would have to be Jake. Fitz is a huge crybaby honestly, and although Olivia makes time for it even though she shouldn’t. However I think Olivia is attracted to Fitz for his power and she obviously uses it in certain times like these. Oh well we all have flaws.
Huck really didn’t have it much easier this episode. He tails Olivia’s father around obviously wanting to kill him, but he can’t bring himself to do it by fear. Eli on the other hand isn’t fearful at all and confronts Peter Foster, a man who also broke into the White House trying to speak to the president about a case called Remington. After trying to buy off Peter and failing Eli handcuffs him to a table where Huck later finds him and kills him to make it look like a suicide. This is particularly sad because once again Huck is back to doing Eli’s dirty work and going back to killing people.
The greatest scene this episode is when Huck and Olivia comes face to face again. Olivia has total fear in her eyes and all she wants to know is if he killed her father. If he did kill her father there is no doubt that would mean that Huck would be there to kill her too for lying, but Huck breaks down and says that her father still owns him. This is a very important line because we now know who is truly pulling all the strings. Olivia, Jake, Fitz, and Huck are all really under Eli’s power and hopefully one of them takes him down by the end of the season.
So Lydia readers, who do you think will be the one to take down Eli? Now that Jake is back who do you think Olivia will choose in the end?
